The Vinyl Vault - December 8, 2020

Hello, Listeners!  There is starting to be a bit of a nip in the air here in the DC metro region.

I don't know about you, listener, but I've always been fond of the transition into winter.  It triggers happy memories of the holidays and all of the traditional holiday trappings.  Fires in the fireplace, decorating the Christmas tree, finding those special presents, wrapping gifts, cocoa and eggnog, holiday music, bundling up to go outside, stringing up lights, Christmas cookies baking in the oven, the smell of fresh evergreen in trees and wreaths.  I don't do most of these things anymore but the memories still make me happy.  Let's call it a Pavlovian response triggered by the sounds and visions of the holidays.  Hmm.  Sound and vision.  Now I'm thinking about Bowie...

Speaking of holiday music - I still have some holiday music sprinkled into the playlist, mostly non-traditional.  I'm also featuring great new music from Rob Moss and Skin-Tight Skin, Deradoorian, Songhoy Blues, and Julia Jacklin.  For you DC Hardcore fans, Rob Moss was a member of Government Issue and Artificial Peace back in the day.  It's great to see him recording again and he has a to die for list of lead guitar players featured in different songs.  Check his album out on Bandcamp.

Make sure you are taking care of yourself and loved ones during the holidays this year.  Remain vigilant and cautious.  Keep in mind that anytime your traditions get temporarily upended, it's a wonderful time to start new traditions.  What new traditions will you begin this year?

I hope you enjoy the mix! See the playlist below. - JC
