RSD Black Friday is November 28
Crooked Beat is once again participating in RSD Black Friday to celebrate the culture of the independently owned record stores and great music!
RSD has announced this year's list of exclusive, RSD first, small run, and regional titles that are being offered. As with previous years, quantities are very limited and Crooked Beat will carry what we can to satisfy our loyal customers.
The store will open at 10:00 am on 11/28/25 and expect long lines to form hours before opening. We will post exactly what titles will in stock in the store several days before so check back then!

Special RSD Releases from Crooked Beat Records in-House Label
Insurgence DC - Ripe for the Trade Off (30th Anniversary)
RSD Release of the 30th Anniversary Double LP on Opaque Baby Blue colored vinyl. Includes remixes from Dave Barbe (Mercyland, Sugar, Drive-By Truckers) the original album’s producer in 1995. Ripe For The Trade Off was highly critically acclaimed and was in heavy rotation on college radio all around the US in 1995. Often compared to bands like The Clash, Fugazi and Husker Du.
Ripe For The Trade Off was hailed by some critics to be one of the best punk albums of 1995. Independent Magazine said that “Ripe For The Trade Off synthesizes the high points of two decades worth of overtly political punk”, while Indie File Magazine said in 1995 “this stuff packs the punch of a prize heavyweight... Smart, without being stuffy or pretentious.”
Upon remixing the album in 2024, David Barbe said “This album still holds up musically and lyrically three decades after its’ initial release!”
Songs from the Astral Plane: A Tribute to Jonathan Richman & the Modern Lovers - Vol. 2
Crooked Beat has a special non-sanctioned record being released the same day as Record Store Day, Saturday April 12! Songs from The Astral Plane: A Tribute To Jonathan Richman & The Modern Lovers Vol 2 is the follow-up to the sold out RSD release that charted on the Billboard compilation charts in the summer of 2021.
Vol 2 continues right where Vol 1 left off. A 10-song tribute to the phenomenal and iconic singer-songwriter Jonathan Richman and his band the Modern Lovers. It features California artists Too Much Joy and Tall Ships, Georgia bands The Violets and Geisha Hit Squad, Peele Wimberley (former drummer of The Connells) and Washington DC artists, Erik Vincent Huey and Eric "Roscoe" Ambel (Del Lords), Daly Combat, Teething Veils, and Silent Island.
This will be 500 numbered copies pressed on Red Vinyl and features artwork by Brian Walsby!

Our brick & mortar store is located in downtown Del Ray at 2417 Mt. Vernon Avenue, Alexandria, Unit D, VA 22301 on the basement level (between Piece Out and Cheesetique). Street parking is readily available.

Walking: Head south on Potomac Avenue. Take a right on Glebe Road. Take a left on US 1 (Richmond Highway). Turn right on East Raymond Avenue. Turn left on Mt Vernon Avenue and you will find us located next to Piece Out Del Ray.
Bus: From the Potomac Yard Metro, take the 33 bus (King St Metro via Mt Vernon Ave) to the Mt Vernon Avenue and Raymond Avenue stop.
- Braddock Road Metro (Blue/Yellow lines)
Walking: Head south on N West Street. Turn right on E Braddock Road. Turn right on Mt Vernon Avenue and continue for .9 miles.
Bus: From the Braddock Road Metro, take the 10B (Ballston) bus to Mt Vernon Avenue & Hume Avenue stop.
